Algol Chemicals receives EcoVadis Gold Sustainability Certificate
EcoVadis, the world's largest provider of sustainability ratings for companies, has awarded Algol Chemicals a Gold level rating. In the past, the company has had a bronze level rating, and the ratings now improved, especially in the ethics and sustainable procurement scores.
"Our first Ecovadis assessment, which led to a bronze medal, showed that we have room for improvement, especially in the documentation, statistics and communication related to our sustainability work", says Päivi Autiovuori, HSEQ Team Leader at Algol Chemicals.
The action suggestions received in the EcoVadis assessments are a valuable tool for continuous improvement. From the action proposals received previously, questions related to sustainable procurement and communication were now prioritised.
“Algol Group published its first sustainability report this year, which surely contributed to our score positively. We are happy about the gold medal achieved by the cooperation of several teams. The work continues with the strength of the entire organisation", Autiovuori says.
EcoVadis is the world's largest provider of sustainability ratings for companies. Its assessment is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000. The topics evaluated are Environment, Ethics, Labor & Human rights and Sustainable Procurement. Since Algol Chemicals joined EcoVadis they have benefited from the recommendations in the development of sustainability in the supply chain.
