Algol Chemicals sets responsibility targets for the coming years
Algol Chemicals has set its short-term responsibility targets for 2022-2024. The targets are based on the materiality assessment performed at the end of last year and the Algol Group’s responsibility targets. The targets also support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
“The responsibility targets that we have now set are an integral part of our new business strategy. These targets will better enable us to ensure safety and responsibility in all our operations. We believe that promoting responsibility in a targeted way also meets the expectations of our stakeholders. For our part, we also want to help our customers achieve their responsibility targets,” says Kalle Kettunen, CEO of Algol Chemicals.
The targets are aimed at the sustainable use of resources
The responsibility targets cover both social responsibility and environmental responsibility. In addition, operations are guided by the Algol Group’s financial responsibility themes.
“The targets we set for our operations and responsibility work are aimed at a healthy and functional work community, the sustainable use of energy and resources, and the continuous improvement of the quality of our operations,” says Päivi Autiovuori, Team Leader, HSEQ Algol Chemicals.
The short-term responsibility targets of Algol Chemicals also take into consideration the key UN’s Sustainable Development Goals related to occupational safety, supply chain responsibility and the environment.
“These targets also enable us to evaluate how our company contributes to the promotion of common global goals. In addition, by monitoring our targets, we can further develop our own operations and their impact in the future,” says Autiovuori.
The targets that have now been set will be reviewed annually and reported on the company’s website. In addition to its responsibility targets, the company complies in all its operations with the Algol Group’s health, safety, environmental and quality policies and code of business conduct, which define ethical principles for the activities of all units and employees.
“We also require our suppliers and subcontractors to comply with these principles,” Autiovuori adds.
The responsibility targets of Algol Chemicals have been published on the company’s website: www.algolchemicals.com/responsibility.
