Alexander Bargum appointed Chairman of Finnish Family Firms Association

The Finnish Family Firms Association (Perheyritysten liitto) has appointed Algol CEO Alexander Bargum as its new chairman at the association’s autumn meeting on 11 November 2020. Bargum previous served as deputy chairman of the Finnish Family Firms Association from 2012–2014 and as a member of its delegation since 2015.

“I am grateful for the trust place in me. I assume the position in a challenging situation. To overcome the corona crisis, we need companies rooted in Finland and committed to this country. Family firms will play a crucial role as employers and responsible guarantors of the wellbeing of Finns,” says Alexander Bargum.

The election process at the autumn meeting was prepared by the association’s election committee chaired by Peter Therman. According to Therman, the aim was to find a person who is able to continue the association’s contribution to the social debate on the business environment for family firms, engage in diverse dialogue between various stakeholders, and understand the challenges of successor generations.

“The new chairman is also committed to fostering active local debate outside the Helsinki metropolitan area. Alexander Bargum meets all these criteria and is an excellent choice as our new chairman. He has long-term experience in the activities of the Finnish Family Firms Association and extensive networks both domestically and internationally,” says Peter Therman.

Newly elected members to the board of directors are Tomi Lantto (Katri Antell Oy) and Miia Porkkala (Aho Group Oy), who join continuing members Ia Adlercreutz (Spikesafe Oy), Aleksi Arpiainen (TT Gaskets Oy), Martti Saikku (Antti Ahlström Perilliset Oy), Jenni von Veh (KMT Invest Oy) and Janne Ylinen (Kokkolan Halpa-Halli Oy). 

Alexander Bargum is the tenth chairman of the Finnish Family Firms Association and succeeds former chairs Peter Fazer, Krister AhlströmKlaus Sohlberg, Marjo MiettinenJanne TimonenAnne Berner, Pekka Laitinen, Heikki Kovanen and Philip Aminoff.
