Overhead conveyor eliminates production bottleneck
Algol Technics and Rocla have worked together for several years already. Most recently, Algol Technics delivered an overhead conveyor that, according to Project Manager Joonas Aalto-Setälä, represents its first conveyor solution to Rocla.
“Our way of working is to develop solutions together with our clients. Our solutions always aim to be ahead of the competition throughout the entire process. In connection with this recent project, we have received a lot of positive feedback about the solution we offered, both from Rocla’s production employees and management,” says Joonas Aalto-Setälä from Algol Technics.
Preassembly line improves manufacturing efficiency
The overhead conveyor system delivered by Algol Technics helped eliminate a major production bottleneck.
“We wanted a preassembly line to improve manufacturing efficiency so that we could make more forklifts. Algol Technics provided the best and most suitable solution for our needs compared to other competitors,” says Juha Immonen, Development Engineer at Rocla.
According to Immonen, the introduction of a new forklift model to production provided a suitable opportunity for modernising the production line at the same time.
“Previously, forklifts were assembled in the same area using overhead cranes. Now we have a preassembly line for electric counterbalance trucks where we install the counterbalance, rear axle and front axle to the truck, after which it is conveyed to the actual assembly line,” Immonen explains.
Apparently, the project went so well, that negotiations for a possible future project have already begun.
“The Project Manager at Algol did a great job overseeing the entire project and taking care of any problems that arose without handing them over for me to solve. He was very much on hand during the build phase and has also provided aftersales support to fix a few small issues,” Immonen adds.
